Blake's Electrical is committed to the ongoing effort of WCAG 2.2 Level AA compliance that enables all people to have access to a free and open web.

Our commitment

Everyone should be able to find an electrician, understand what we do, and get in touch — whatever device they use and whatever assistive technology they rely on. We treat that as part of doing the job properly, not as an extra.

We build and test this site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, currently WCAG 2.2 Level AA — the most recent published version of the standard. Where we fall short, we want to hear about it and fix it.

What that means in practice

Some of the things we hold this site to, and re-check when we change it:

  • Readable contrast

    Text and interface colours are checked against WCAG 2.2 Level AA contrast ratios in both light and dark modes, not just one.

  • Meaningful structure

    Real headings, landmarks and lists, so screen readers can navigate the page by section instead of reading it start to finish.

  • Text that scales

    Layouts reflow rather than break when text is enlarged or the window is narrow, down to small phone widths.

  • Descriptive links and labels

    Links say where they go, images that carry meaning have alternative text, and decorative artwork is hidden from assistive technology.

  • Light and dark modes

    The site follows your device's colour preference, and both modes are held to the same contrast standard.

An ongoing effort

Accessibility is not a box we tick once. Guidelines change, the site changes, and assistive technology changes — so this is work we keep doing rather than work we finish. We review accessibility whenever we add or rebuild a page.

We're not claiming perfection. If something here doesn't work for you, that's a bug on our side, and we'd rather know about it than not.
